The Fourth Annual juried all art competition and exhibit brings together artists and their work from across the region. Cash prizes are awarded in many categories at the opening reception. This exhibit is funded in part by the Dr. Minor F. Watts Fund.

Join us for Art and Song when Nashville performing artist Cindy Kalmenson makes her Hendersonville debut in the Arts Council’s D. Sam Neill Gallery. Ms. Kalmenson is an original voice in Nashville weaving deep sentiments with honesty and humor. Inspired and influenced by her favorite artists: Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, Neil Young, Joan Baez and Emmylou Harris, to name a few, Cindy has developed a unique and heart felt sound very much her own. Carolina First Benefit Gala for the Arts

The Arts Council of Henderson County holds its 18th Annual Gala for the Arts on August 25th. Join your friends for a Brazilian adventure and support the Arts Council at the same time! The Conga line forms at 6:30 PM at the Kellogg Center. Celebrate with a night of fine dining, drinks and dancing under the big tent. Wear your finest and don’t forget your beads! $125 per person. The Art of Our Community Colleges
September 7 – September 22
Look no further than the Community Colleges of Western North Carolina to locate the finest in current art and fine craft creations. This Hendersonville Premier exhibit features the creative works of the fine art, design, craft and sculpture departments of Asheville-Buncombe, Blue Ridge, Haywood, and Isothermal Community Colleges. Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories at the opening reception.
Watercolor Society of North Carolina

Created to increase the visibility and stature of watercolor as an artistic medium and to recognize professional and artistic excellence through competitions, the Watercolor Society of North Carolina comes to Hendersonville for its 2007 Exhibition and Annual Meeting. Over sixty paintings will be on view featuring some of the State’s most talented artists. The exhibit is sure to be the most colorful of the season. Opening reception: 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
Artist’s Studio Tour
Saturday, November 17 and Sunday November 18
The Arts Council of Henderson County will host an Artist’s Studio on Saturday, November 17th from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday, November 18th from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm. Begin the tour by viewing the Watercolor Society of North Carolina’s 62nd Juried Exhibition at the Arts Council’s Gallery at 538 North Main Street, 2nd Floor. Maps will be available with directions to fourteen artist’s studios around Hendersonville open for your holiday shopping pleasure.

Gingerbread House Competition

The annual Gingerbread House Competition is back in the lobby of the Skyland Condominium at 6th Avenue and North Main Street. Enter to win, or if you just want to look, you’ll be amazed at what folks can do with candy, fruit and nuts.

Gallery Open House
February 1 – March 8
Traditionally, February has been a time when the Arts Council gallery has been closed. However, with plenty of artists waiting for the public to view their creations, what better time to have a GALLERY OPEN HOUSE. The Arts Council has invited some of the regions finest book artists, rug hookers, the F32 Camera Club and the Art League of Henderson County to turn the Gallery into a bee hive of activity.
The Art of Our Children
March/April
The Arts Council devotes each spring to the artistic creations of our children. Elementary Art features art through the eyes of elementary school age children and Artists of Tomorrow, now in its 13th year, features the art of secondary school children from across the region. A special invitation has been extended to the Art Program of the Boys and Girls Club of Henderson County to join the Gallery exhibitions during these months which are dedicated to the art teachers and those they mentor.
The Bold and The Beautiful
May 2 – June 21
From its inception, Bold Life magazine has presented the work of many of the region’s most exciting artists, both emerging and established. Publishers Rimas Zailskas and Mary DiOrio have provided a grassroots venue for artists from an amazingly diverse set of disciplines: painting, sculpture, glasswork, outsider art, performance art and some hard-to-classify genres.
To celebrate Bold Life’s fifth anniversary, the Arts Council will host a retrospective exhibit featuring many of the artists that have graced its pages. You won’t want to miss what is sure to be the most sensational Hendersonville opening of the season. This exhibit is funded in part by the Dr. Minor F. Watts Fund.
