Arts in Education
The Arts in Education Program provides support to schools to strengthen the use of the arts in pre-K through 12 settings. Priority is given to funding the fees of professional artists who establish instructional collaborations with classroom teachers. This program serves over 1,000 children in our community annually. Partial funding for this activity is provided by Henderson County.

Grants
Grassroots Arts Program
In 1977, the North Carolina General Assembly established the Grassroots Arts Program to ensure that every citizen had access to quality arts experiences. The Arts Council of Henderson County, appointed as a partner by the Henderson County government, serves as the Designated County Partner to manage Henderson County’s arts allotment from the State. The funding supports a variety of arts activities every year including community festivals, concerts, theatre productions and arts in education programs. Organizations receiving funds must match each grant dollar received. Funds from this program are distributed to a variety of local arts organizations and organizations serving the citizens of Henderson County through a competitive grant process. The grant cycle is July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008. Because the next budget of the State of North Carolina is not officially adopted until the fall, awards to organizations do not become final until October 1, 2007.
Regional Artist Project Grants
During 2007-2008, the Haywood County Art Council, the Tryon Fine Arts Center and the Art Council of Henderson County will participate in the Regional Artists Project Grant (RAPG) program. The RAPG support professional artists in any discipline and at any stage in their careers to pursue projects that further their artistic development. Artists residing in Haywood, Henderson and Polk Counties are eligible to apply.
