The Arts Council of Henderson County (ACofHC) is proud to offer the Artists in Schools program, designed to enrich the educational experience of K-12 public school students in Henderson County. Through this program, we provide funding to bring talented teaching artists and nonprofit arts organizations into classrooms to deliver arts-focused performances, workshops, residencies, and field trips. Exposure to the arts has been proven to enhance academic success, foster creativity, and build cultural awareness among students. However, not all students have equal access to these valuable experiences. The Artists in Schools program aims to bridge this gap by ensuring that students from all backgrounds have the opportunity to benefit from the arts. Our program focuses on engaging students during regular school hours, providing them with immersive and interactive arts experiences. We work closely with schools to match them with professional teaching artists who can deliver tailored programs that align with educational standards and meet the unique needs of each school community. By participating in the Artists in Schools program, students gain access to diverse artistic disciplines, including visual arts, music, dance, theater, and more. These experiences not only support academic achievement but also promote personal growth, self-expression, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Together, we can inspire the next generation through the transformative power of the arts.
